A Aurora do Lima15 September 2026 at 08:58

The Port Administration of Douro, Leixões and Viana do Castelo (APDL) announced the entry into operation of the new dry dock number 3 at the Viana do Castelo Shipyards.

The investment in this infrastructure was 24 million euros.

The new dry dock will allow the shipyards to expand their capacity for shipbuilding and naval repair.

More information about this investment will be available in this week's printed edition, which hits the newsstands on Thursday.

Why this matters

This 24 million euro investment represents a significant reinforcement of the industrial capacity of the Viana do Castelo Shipyards, and may boost the local economy and create new employment opportunities in the region. The new infrastructure positions the shipyards as a more competitive facility in the shipbuilding and repair sector.
