A 23-year-old man was arrested on Monday (14) in Joinville, Santa Catarina, for repeated violation of a protection order and serious domestic violence crimes. He had an open preventive detention warrant. The arrest was carried out by the Santa Catarina Civil Police, through the Specialized Women's Assistance Unit (DEAM) in the city, with operational support from the Municipal Guard. The man had been arrested previously.
The suspect, whose identity was not disclosed, has a history of violence involving assaults against his ex-partner, which increased over time, according to police. One of the most serious assaults occurred on July 11 of this year, when he struck the victim multiple times on the head with punches and threatened her with a machete.
