Electronic money accounts in Mozambique have significantly surpassed traditional bank accounts. In the second quarter of 2026, 130.9 electronic money accounts were registered per 100 adults in the country.
This number represents almost four times more accounts than the traditional bank accounts existing in Mozambique, demonstrating the accelerated growth in the adoption of electronic financial services in the country.
The data was released by the Bank of Mozambique, the regulatory body of the national financial system, which monitors the evolution of these indicators in the context of the country's financial inclusion.
