João Moreira Rato, president of the Portuguese Corporate Governance Institute (IPCG), warned that collecting and working with quality data constitutes one of the main failures he identifies in companies in Portugal. According to the official, organizations still face significant difficulties in how they collect, process and use their data.
The president of IPCG also highlighted that Portuguese companies need to recognize climate risks as effective operational risks. This is a mindset change that Rato considers essential for the adaptation of the national business fabric to contemporary challenges.
These statements come in the context of an analysis on corporate governance in Portugal, an area where IPCG plays a reference role in promoting good corporate governance practices in the country.
