Dognosis: uses dogs and AI to detect cancer

SAPO15 September 2026 at 00:05

Dognosis developed BreathEasy, an innovative test that analyzes patients' breath to detect signs of cancer. The system uses a combination of trained dogs, advanced sensors and artificial intelligence to identify the presence of the disease.

In a Phase 2 study, BreathEasy demonstrated promising results, managing to identify seven different cancer groups with an accuracy rate of approximately 91%.

This approach represents a non-invasive methodology for cancer screening and early detection, using the dogs' keen sense of smell as part of a broader technological system.

Why this matters

This technology represents a significant advance in early cancer diagnosis, offering a less invasive and potentially more accessible method. If validated in subsequent studies, it could transform the way cancer is detected, benefiting patients worldwide. The Phase 2 study with promising results suggests this approach is advancing to more advanced stages of development.
