The directors of Lisbon schools met in emergency with the Ministry of Education to find a solution for students who still do not have an assigned place. The meeting took place after reports of hundreds of children without a spot in the capital's schools.
The ministry announced that it is available to open new classes, reorganize school spaces, or increase the number of students per class. However, the Ministry did not state how many students remain without placement in Lisbon schools.
The solution found mainly involves expanding existing classes in schools in the region, in order to accommodate all students. The directors and the ministry reached an agreement on the measures to implement to resolve the situation before the start of the school year.
The educational authorities guarantee that they are working to ensure that all children in Lisbon will have a place in a school, although they have not specified a deadline for the complete resolution of the problem.
