Rio Ave drew this Monday three-all with Estrela da Amadora, at Estádio dos Arcos, in a match from the 6th round of the I Liga. The Vilacondense team was three times behind on the scoreboard, but managed to react every time and secure the draw, ending even reduced to ten men.
With this result, Rio Ave adds four points in six rounds and maintains 16th place in the standings, which corresponds to the position for access to the maintenance play-off. The team returns to competition on September 19, when they travel to face Alverca.
Coach Sotiris Silaidopoulos praised the team's reaction capacity, highlighting the character shown in recovering from three deficits. The Greek coach acknowledged that the draw doesn't leave the team fully satisfied, but considered the reaction positive after the defeat in the Azores against Santa Clara.
Silaidopoulos also made a point of thanking the fans' support, emphasizing that it was important to see fans present at the airport after the negative result and that the connection between the team and supporters at the end of the game gives the team strength at a delicate moment of the season.
