Hospital de Santo António decided to cut additional surgeries due to the lack of available medical teams. This measure affects the response capacity of the unit for procedures that are not considered urgent.
The impact of this decision is particularly significant in the areas of orthopedics and neurosurgery, which record the greatest restrictions in the performance of scheduled surgeries. Both specialties face limitations in providing new surgical slots.
Despite the restrictions, the hospital guarantees that urgent and oncological surgeries continue to be ensured without changes. These priority interventions remain protected within the available capacity of the unit.
