Car production in Portugal experienced the worst month since the chip crisis, with less than 10 thousand vehicles produced in August. This negative result was mainly due to the inactivity of the Mitsubishi Fuso factory and the stoppage of Autoeuropa during almost the entire month.
Autoeuropa, one of the main factories in the sector in Portugal, was practically suspended during August, which contributed significantly to the drop in national production.
The Stellantis unit in Mangualde managed to partially mitigate this decline, registering growth of more than 60% in the same period.
The underlying context is the comparison with the chip crisis, which severely affected the global automotive industry in recent years, and which is now surpassed by the negative results recorded this month of August.
