Motorcyclist Danilo Jander Francisco Alves, 26 years old, a pizzaiolo, was shot in the head during a police approach on Saturday night in Icaraí, Niterói. A video obtained by GLOBO shows the final moments of the incident, in which the young man appears to slow down as he approaches a traffic jam while being followed by two military police officers on motorcycles.
In the footage, it can be seen that, in an interval of just 5 seconds, one of the agents sprays a jet of pepper spray at Danilo and, right after, the other officer fires the shot that hits the young man in the head. The victim falls alongside the motorcycle at the scene.
In a statement, the Security Present program office reported that the officers set up a blockade of the motorcyclist after he disobeyed a stop order during patrol in the Icaraí region. According to the agency, during the approach, one of the agents fired the shot that hit Danilo.
The police officer responsible for the shot was arrested and taken to a prison unit of the corporation. The Military Police Internal Affairs is monitoring the case and has opened a procedure to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
