A municipal civil guard was "swallowed" by a crater that opened on the sidewalk of the waterfront in Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo, during the heavy rains that hit the region on Sunday night (13). The moment of the fall was recorded on video during a live broadcast. The agent managed to get out of the hole on his own and was taken to an emergency room, where he underwent exams and received medication for shoulder pain. He did not suffer serious injuries.
The case occurred in the Caiçara neighborhood, near Rua Vitório Morbin. The guard had been called to assess the situation after residents reported the collapse of another section of the waterfront, where there was also a fallen power pole.
The resident who recorded the images was doing a live stream at the location and was watching the agent's movement. At one point, the sidewalk gave way and the guard fell into the crater.
According to the Praia Grande City Hall, the agent was found conscious and alert after the incident.
