With the Olympic spot for Los Angeles 2028 secured after winning the South American title, coach José Roberto Guimarães announced that the Brazilian women's volleyball national team will not prioritize the Nations League title in 2027. According to Zé Roberto, the goal for the next year will be the World Championship, a competition in which Brazil seeks unprecedented gold.
Zé Roberto will compete in his tenth Olympics in Los Angeles, completing 50 years since his debut at the Games in 1976, when he was still an athlete. The coach stated that he intends to end his tenure with the national team in 2028 on a positive note, doing everything possible to lead the team to the podium.
Although his journey with the national teams is nearing its end, Zé Roberto does not intend to leave the courts. He recently signed with a new club while maintaining his club in Barueri, known for developing young talent. Starting next season of the American LOVB league, which will begin in December, the coach will be at the helm of a team in Los Angeles.
