The S. Torcato Youth Festival will undergo a name change in 2027, becoming the "Guimarães Youth Festival," although the town of S. Torcato will continue to be the venue for its holding. The announcement was made by the President of the Municipal Council of Guimarães, Ricardo Araújo, during this year's edition, which took place last weekend.
The name change coincides with the 20th anniversary of this festival. Ricardo Araújo recalled that it is the oldest youth festival that takes place uninterruptedly, year after year, in Guimarães, which justifies the municipal recognition.
The mayor also announced a reinforcement of the Municipal Council's financial support for the initiative. The goal is to project the festival as a reference celebration for young people throughout the municipality of Guimarães.
Ricardo Araújo explained that, with the new name and increased support, the council intends to transform this festival into a celebration that all residents of Guimarães can be proud of, consolidating its status as a landmark event in the municipal calendar.
