The Secretary-General of the PS, José Luís Carneiro, accused the Education Minister of "lack of planning" at the start of the school year. The criticism was directed at the official responsible for the Education portfolio, pointing out deficiencies in the preparation for the return to classes.
Carneiro also warned about what he described as the "dismantling" of the Ministry of Education, suggesting that the ministry's structure has been progressively weakened under the current leadership.
According to the socialist leader, "there has been no capacity to respond to the multiple needs" of students, teachers, and schools at the beginning of the school year, evidencing failures in the management and organization of the education sector.
Carneiro's intervention comes in the context of the start of a new school year, a time when logistical and operational difficulties are frequently identified in Portuguese schools.
