Maria de Fátima, 71 years old, who had been missing since Sunday at 06:00, was found alive this afternoon in the vicinity of her home in Cerdal, Valença. The woman was located lying in a bushland area, relatively close to home, after the searches carried out by the authorities.
The search operation involved members of the GNR and the Firefighters, who participated in the efforts to locate the septuagenarian. The authorities had received the alert of the disappearance on Sunday morning.
After being located, the woman was treated at the scene by the rescue services on site. Subsequently, Maria de Fátima was transported to the Hospital of Viana do Castelo to receive medical care.
