The Municipality of Aveiro will proceed with a pilot project that provides for the closure to traffic of Rua Eça de Queirós. The street will be closed to vehicle traffic for a week, between September 16 and 22.
The closure test will be carried out within the scope of European Mobility Week, an initiative that promotes more sustainable alternatives for transport and travel in European cities.
The Aveiro municipality decided to implement this pilot project to evaluate the impact of restricting access to this street, likely as part of strategies to reduce automobile traffic in the city center and encourage more environmentally friendly mobility modes.
