The Superior Labor Court partially granted a request from Correios and declared the workers' strike abusive. The decision orders that unions maintain 80% of the workforce active during the strike period.
The TST ruling covers all service, treatment, transportation, distribution, and administrative or indispensable support units for the postal chain continuity. The court established that the 80% percentage must be measured individually in each covered unit, and when applicable, in each indispensable shift and activity.
The court also prohibited the offsetting of excess attendance between different units, shifts, or activities. Correios had filed a lawsuit requesting, on an urgent basis, that the strike be declared abusive and also requested the opening of a collective dispute resolution procedure.
The collective bargaining hearing is scheduled for September 21, at 1:30 PM. The strike occurs due to lack of agreement between the company and workers regarding salary adjustment.
