The Ponta Delgada Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIPD) today defended the need for an evaluation of the application of sick leave inspection mechanisms in the Azores. The business association's position comes following concerns expressed by several member companies regarding this issue.
According to CCIPD, which represents companies from the islands of São Miguel and Santa Maria, the sick leave control mechanisms have generated concern among its members, prompting the chamber of commerce's intervention with the regional authorities.
This call for evaluation comes at a time when the effectiveness and implementation methods of sick leave verification systems in the Autonomous Region of the Azores are being discussed, a territory where the inspection of this type of work absence has its own characteristics.
The CCIPD's position reflects the difficulties faced by São Miguel's business sector regarding the procedures currently in force for sick leave control, with the chamber of commerce hoping for an in-depth analysis of the situation by the competent authorities.
