Olhão City Council celebrated on Friday the start of the 2026/2027 school year with the symbolic delivery of school supplies to primary school students in the municipality, at a ceremony held at EB1 School No. 7. The council distributed activity books, school supply kits and backpacks to around 1900 children, the latter developed in partnership with the municipal company AmbiOlhão and which include messages raising awareness about environmental protection.
The municipal initiative aims to ensure that all children start the new school year with the necessary materials for their learning, while supporting families during a period that represents, annually, an increased financial burden. According to the Municipality, the action aims to contribute to equal opportunities and better conditions for all children.
Catarina Poço, vice-president of the City Council, highlighted that the municipality has been investing in the requalification and improvement of school facilities, the renewal of equipment and the creation of safer, more comfortable spaces suitable for the needs of children and young people. The council also extends its action to the areas of school transport and meals, with the aim of ensuring conditions of comfort, safety and well-being throughout the students' educational journey.
