The company Nãm, 50% owned by Delta Ventures, inaugurated a new factory in Odivelas dedicated to the production of mushrooms cultivated from coffee grounds. This industrial unit represents an investment of approximately one million euros.
With this new factory, Nãm will triple its mushroom production capacity, reaching approximately 150 tons per year. Previously, the company operated with a significantly lower capacity.
Nãm's production process consists of using coffee grounds as a substrate for cultivating edible mushrooms, in a circular economy approach that transforms a common waste product into a food product. This methodology allows for a second use of a material that would normally be discarded.
