Spanish carpenter May Rojas highlighted the significant increase in interior door prices, revealing that work that previously cost 120 euros now exceeds 250 euros. The example, published by the Spanish newspaper El Español, shows how renovating interior doors can represent a considerably higher expense than just a few years ago.
In Portugal, values are not directly comparable, but anyone planning renovations should expect considerable differences. The final price depends on the type of door, material, dimensions, finish, hardware and labour. While large DIY stores offer entry-level solutions for a few dozen euros, more elaborate models can easily reach several hundred euros for the product alone.
According to May Rojas, part of the increase is related to wood costs and the difficulty of finding qualified professionals in the sector. The shortage of skilled labour can be reflected in the budget, especially for work requiring installation, custom adjustments or specific finishes. Beyond the price of the door, one must also consider handles, hinges, frames, architraves and the possible removal of the old door.
The difference becomes particularly relevant in a complete renovation. A house with six or seven interior doors can transform what seems like a small aesthetic change into a four-digit expense. Comparing several quotes and confirming exactly what is included helps avoid surprises.
