EID, a Portuguese company specializing in the development of advanced communications systems and command and control (C4I) for the Defense sectors, created the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and appointed Pedro Araújo Costa to the position. Martin Bennett, CEO of the company, stated that the company's growth and the magnitude of the opportunities ahead require an organization prepared to execute with greater agility, integration and customer focus.
Pedro Araújo Costa, 49 years old, has a professional background linked to the defense sector, having spent more than a decade with the Portuguese Navy. The professional has been a member of EID's team since September 2023, when he joined as Director of Programs & Products, assuming the COO role in May.
The leadership reinforcement comes at a time when the company is developing the communication systems for the Portuguese Navy's frigates, including the 'drone-carrier'. The company has an ongoing plan to increase its facilities by 50% and the number of employees by 35%, with completion expected next year.
EID has been part of Cohort plc since 2016 and was founded in 1983. Among its shareholders are IdD Portugal Defence, which aggregates the Portuguese State's holdings in the defense sector, and IAPMEI.
