9 million Europeans have already voted for the new euro banknotes

Around 9 million Europeans have already voted on the proposals for the new euro banknotes. The European Central Bank is collecting the opinion of European citizens on the new designs for the single European currency banknotes.

Piero Cipollone, member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank, defended the use of cash during a public speech. Cipollone highlighted that the ECB is committed to preserving access to physical money.

According to data presented by Cipollone, the number of euro banknotes in circulation has been growing consistently, registering an increase of 3% per year. This growth contrasts with the idea that physical money would be in decline.
