The head of Palestinian diplomacy, Varsen Shahin, defended today in Lisbon that Portugal can give an important contribution to the pursuit of a just and lasting peace during its term on the United Nations Security Council.
Shahin stated that she is confident that Portugal will use its voice and position to reinforce the protection of civilians and defend international law, particularly at a time when it is being tested worldwide.
The meeting in Lisbon marks the expression of Palestine's expectation regarding the role that Portugal may play at the United Nations, highlighting the importance of the country as a non-permanent member of the Security Council.
