The Local Health Unit (ULS) of Castelo Branco has warned about the presence in the municipality of the mosquito that transmits diseases such as dengue, zika and chikungunya. The identified mosquito belongs to the Aedes albopictus species, known to be a vector for these viruses.
The mosquito detection was carried out through the Vector Surveillance Network (REVIVE), a surveillance network involving the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge and the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), also counting on the collaboration of a university. The alert was issued through a statement published on the social media channels of the ULS of Castelo Branco.
