The Basic School of Peroselo, in the municipality of Penafiel, was inaugurated this Sunday after the completion of its requalification, with an investment of 787,772.86 euros by the Municipal Council. The ceremony was attended by the school community, local population and local government officials. During the works, students were temporarily relocated to other educational establishments.
The intervention allowed for the renewal of the school space and significantly improved comfort, climate control and safety conditions for students and teachers. The mayor, Pedro Cepeda, highlighted education as one of the municipality's priorities and recalled that the need for a major intervention at the school had already been identified by the previous executive.
The president of the Parish Council of Peroselo, Estrela Couto Sousa, welcomed the improvement in conditions for children, but took the opportunity to ask the municipal executive to install a cover over the school's outdoor space, allowing for its use with greater comfort and protection.
The renovated school comes in the context of other investments in the parish, including the new Health Centre of Peroselo, which is in the final phase of finishing works with completion expected between September and October, and the second phase of expansion of the Leisure Park of Peroselo, with a construction project already awarded at approximately 150 thousand euros.
