João Jaime Pires resigned from the position of president of the Parish Council of Arroios, in Lisbon. The former director of Liceu Camões cited personal reasons for the decision, leaving a position for which he had been recently elected in 2025.
João Jaime Pires was independent and achieved one of the major victories in the last Municipal elections in Lisbon, which made his departure particularly significant for the party that supported him.
PS, Socialist Party, has already ensured the replacement. Vítor Carvalho, who led João Jaime Pires' electoral campaign, now assumes the leadership of the Parish Council of Arroios.
This resignation comes just a few months after the election, interrupting the mandate that had begun with the unexpected victory of an independent candidate in the Portuguese capital.
