The Quaest poll on the presidential election, commissioned by GLOBO and TV Globo, records for the first time during the campaign a numerical advantage of Flavío Bolsonaro (PL) over President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in a second round. The senator appears with 42% of voting intentions, against 40% for the PT candidate. Since the margin of error is two percentage points for more or for less, the result still constitutes a technical tie.
The poll was conducted between Thursday and Sunday, a period marked by an unprecedented crisis at the Supreme Federal Court (STF). Internal disputes at the Court dominated last week's news and became the agenda of electoral campaigns.
Although Flavío Bolsonaro himself is under investigation in the Master case, he concentrated his attacks on suspicions regarding Minister Alexandre de Moraes to associate him with adversary Lula. The court will begin deciding tomorrow the issues related to this impasse.
The result represents a favorable swing for the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, since in the previous poll, from last week, both candidates scored 41% in the second round.
