Portuguese authorities have issued an alert about a new scam circulating through WhatsApp. The Public Security Police (PSP) is warning citizens about this threat, which has not yet recorded confirmed cases in Portugal, but is considered relevant by the authorities.
This type of scam exploits trust relationships between users. Criminals take advantage of the closeness and familiarity in WhatsApp conversations to deceive victims, pretending to be known contacts or family members.
PSP recommends that users be vigilant and always verify the identity of anyone requesting personal information or money through the application, even when the message appears to come from someone known.
