The Minister of the Presidency, Leitão Amaro, defended a "transformation effort" at the Lusíadas (Lusa) news agency and RTP, the public radio and television station. During his statements, the government official stated that Portugal needs both Lusíadas (Lusa) and RTP, emphasizing the importance of these two entities for the country.
Leitão Amaro also highlighted the public investment that has been made in both companies in recent years, acknowledging the State's role in funding these institutions. This investment was presented as fundamental to guaranteeing the continuity of the services provided by both organizations.
However, the minister was clear in stating that change at RTP is a matter of survival, not merely a question of modernization or updating. This declaration suggests that, from the government's perspective, the public station faces significant challenges that require profound transformations to guarantee its future viability.
