Jerónimo Martins was targeted with a 121 million euro fine in Poland for anti-competitive practice. The Polish regulatory authority imposed this heavy fine on Jerónimo Martins Polska for involvement in an agreement aimed at limiting competition in the transport sector.
According to the regulatory authority, transport companies agreed not to compete for workers and Jerónimo Martins Polska is said to have coordinated this agreement. This practice essentially consisted of a collusion between companies to avoid the dispute of workers in the transport market.
The 121 million euro fine represents one of the largest sanctions imposed by the Polish competition authority. The case directly involves Jerónimo Martins Polska, which is the Portuguese distribution group's subsidiary in the Polish market.
