Fenprof, the National Federation of Teachers, conducted a survey that revealed that almost two-thirds of schools in Portugal face teacher shortage problems. According to the study data, only 36.2% of responses indicated that there were no teacher shortage problems in the previous school year.
The problem has worsened over the last school year, with a significant deterioration in the situation in schools. The survey data shows that the shortage of teachers has become more pronounced and widespread in the Portuguese education system.
School directors have expressed concern about the future, with approximately one-third of them anticipating difficulties in staffing teachers for the next school year. This forecast indicates that the problem may continue to affect the functioning of schools in the coming months.
