Indonesian authorities located the ferry that sank, leaving six dead. The vessel was found approximately 80 nautical miles southwest of the city of Banjarmasin, in the south of Borneo island.
The wreckage of the vessel was still floating on the surface of the water at the time of location. The sinking resulted in a total of 108 people rescued alive.
So far, no information has been released about the cause of the sinking or the identity of the fatal victims.
Residents and maritime travelers in the Kalimantan/Borneo region are directly affected by this incident. The location of the vessel now allows rescue and recovery efforts to continue, as well as investigating the causes of the sinking.
