This situation is described as an "anti-rain dome," which results from the persistence of atmospheric conditions unfavorable to the passage of fronts and the occurrence of significant precipitation.
The explanation for this dry and persistent scenario lies in the atmospheric circulation over the North Atlantic and Europe. An upper-level ridge should extend from the subtropical Atlantic toward the Iberian Peninsula, favoring the descent of air and atmospheric stability.
This atmospheric configuration hinders cloud formation and keeps rain away from Portugal, despite the passage of deep depressions over the North Atlantic during this period.
