Road accidents showed an unfavorable evolution in the area under the responsibility of the District Command of Leiria of the Public Security Police (PSP) during the first seven months of 2026. The Leiria district faced a worsening of road safety indicators during this period, with July standing out as the most critical month of the year.
Despite a reduction in the number of fatalities, the remaining accident indicators showed significant worsening. Accidents increased and, more sharply, there was a significant growth in the number of seriously and slightly injured on the district's roads.
The District Command of Leiria of the PSP is the entity responsible for enforcement and monitoring of road accidents in that region. The data refer to the period between January and July 2026.
