The fourth edition of Granfondo Serra D'Ossa takes place on October 4th, with start and finish in Alandroal, covering the municipalities of Alandroal, Redondo, Vila Viçosa, Borba, and Estremoz. The program for the 2026 edition was presented at Alandroal Castle, bringing together Portuguese and foreign cyclists from more than three dozen nationalities, with three distances adapted to different fitness levels. The routes have been renewed, maintaining the passage through Serra D'Ossa as one of the highlights, and include a complementary program for children and companions.
In an interview with Rádio Campanário, the president of Redondo City Council, David Galego, considered that sport can play a relevant role in the promotion and revitalization of territories, emphasizing that the event constitutes a factor in attracting people to the region. The mayor also highlighted the event's connection to the Serra D'Ossa valorization project, which aims to consolidate this territorial identity, and the coordination between the five municipalities involved to enhance the tourism offer of the entire territory.
David Galego emphasized that this is a large-scale and highly visible event, with a very significant economic impact for the municipalities involved. Holding the race during a long weekend allows for extending the number of overnight stays in the territory, contributing significantly to the local economy. The presence of participants from various countries helps project the region beyond its borders.
The mayor also expressed confidence regarding the 2027 edition, which will have Redondo as the host municipality, coinciding with the São Francisco Fair. David Galego believes that the coordination between the sports program and the cultural programming prepared by the municipality could further strengthen the dimension and attractiveness of Granfondo Serra D'Ossa, which positions itself as an instrument for tourism promotion, valorization of Serra D'Ossa, and economic revitalization of the five municipalities involved.
