The municipality of Guimarães reinforced its ties with Israel through a meeting that addressed strategic areas such as innovation, technology, civil protection, human resources qualification and investment attraction. Among the topics discussed was the possibility of sharing technological solutions between municipalities for the modernization of municipal services, as well as the preparation for and response to emergency situations.
Ricardo Araújo highlighted the presence of TAG Medical Products Corporation in Guimarães, through TAGlobal Portugal, which is establishing its first industrial unit in Europe at AvePark. The Israeli project, dedicated to the development and manufacture of advanced medical devices, represents a high added-value investment and reinforces the municipality's capacity to host technology companies.
The meeting also allowed for an analysis of the importance of scientific knowledge, engineering and the retention of qualified professionals, with emphasis on the need to bring together companies, universities and research centers. Possible areas of future cooperation were also identified, including artificial intelligence, software development, medical technology, advanced industry, the space sector and innovation applied to the textile industry.
