The CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, defended on Saturday the need to reduce the frenetic pace of AI advancement to allow for a better understanding of the risks arising from new artificial intelligence capabilities. He received public support from Sam Altman, his counterpart at OpenAI, from Elon Musk, controller of xAI linked to Grok, and from Demis Hassabis, president of Google DeepMind.
In recent months, OpenAI and Anthropic have reported several incidents related to the technology's risks, which motivated these executives to publicly advocate for the slowdown. The concern centers on safety and the unforeseen consequences of accelerated development.
In response, President Donald Trump rejected the warnings made by Amodei, Altman, and Musk, classifying as "negative forces" those who advocate for slowing down the advancement of artificial intelligence.
