A small aircraft with five people on board disappeared this Sunday in a mountainous region of Colombia. The flight was operated by the Colombian Civil Air Patrol (PAC), a private organization that provides health services and humanitarian assistance in remote areas of the country. The aircraft took off from the town of Condoto, in the Chocó region, bound for Bogotá.
According to flight tracker FlightRadar, the aircraft departed at 9:09 AM local time and lost contact just 14 minutes later. The aircraft was carrying four passengers and a pilot. Authorities reported that the activation of the emergency locator beacon was confirmed in the Cerro Tatamá region.
The entity responsible for investigating air accidents confirmed the disappearance of the aircraft. Authorities quickly activated search protocols to locate the aircraft and the people on board in the mountainous area where the signal was lost.
