The regional elections in Saxony-Anhalt held on September 6 produced a result that goes far beyond regional politics. The AfD party achieved 43.8% of the votes and won 39 of the 83 available seats in the regional parliament.
This result places the party just three seats short of an absolute majority, demonstrating exponential growth compared to previous elections. In 2021, AfD had obtained just over 20% of the votes, representing a significant increase in voting intention in just a few years.
