The Sophia mega-solar farm project will be reduced by about a third of its original size. The reconfiguration of the project leads to a 35% decrease in the area of planned solar panels.
As part of this restructuring, one of the planned power lines will be eliminated. This decision allows for avoiding areas considered more sensitive in the territory.
The project also proposes a package of benefits for the affected areas in the three municipalities involved: Penamacor, Idanha-a-Nova and Fundão. This measure aims to compensate the local communities impacted by the installation.
