Gabriel Varela, National Cadetes Champion, conquered this Sunday the 26th edition of the Grande Prémio Alves Barbosa. The rider from the Cantanhede Cycling/VESAM team arrived at the last stage wearing the leader's jersey, after shining on Saturday in Águeda, where he achieved the victory that allowed him to take command of the general classification.
Varela managed to maintain the yellow jersey until the finish line in Montemor-o-Velho, thus guaranteeing the victory in the overall classification of the race. The final stage was won by Filipe Granjinho, who prevailed in the last lap.
With this victory, Gabriel Varela confirms his status as national champion in the cadetes category, adding another important title to his sporting career. The young rider demonstrated consistency throughout the entire competition, holding the leadership from Águeda until the end of the race.
