The first projections from Swedish public television SVT indicate that Magdalena Andersson is expected to become the first woman to be elected prime minister in Sweden. The left as a whole will have reached 51.3% of votes, against 46.8% for the right-wing bloc.
With these results, the incumbent Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson's hopes of re-election are dashed. The projections were released at 20:00, local time (19:00 in Lisbon), at the moment the polls closed.
The far right, whose results appear cut off in the article, will also have been disappointed with the outcome of these elections.
