The PSD spokesperson harshly criticized the statements by the parliamentary leader of PS, Brilhante Dias, who classified Fernando Alexandre as "candidate for worst Education Minister since April 25th". Bugalho considered that these words crossed the acceptable limits in political debate and demanded that Brilhante Dias backtrack and apologize for the statements.
The controversy arises in the context of an exchange of accusations between the two parties during the current political crisis. Brilhante Dias's criticisms of Fernando Alexandre's performance in the Education portfolio were interpreted by PSD as a disproportionate personal attack.
Bugalho emphasized that "there must be limits" in political discourse and that comments of this nature do not contribute to healthy debate between parties. PSD now expects an official apology from the Socialist parliamentary leader.
