Douglas Ruas, candidate for governor of Rio de Janeiro by PL-RJ, participated this Sunday in the birthday worship service of pastor Silas Malafaia at the Assembly of God Victory in Christ, in Rio de Janeiro. During the event, Ruas praised the religious leader, thanking for blessings and asking for long life for the pastor to continue his ministry.
Pastor Silas Malafaia was once close to former mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD), Ruas's current main adversary in the state election. However, Malafaia now shows support for the PL candidate, indicating a change in his political alliances.
In his speech during the worship service, Douglas Ruas asked the faithful to pray for the pastor's life, for his family, for Rio de Janeiro and for Brazil. Ruas stated that when the people of faith rise up, extraordinary things happen, demonstrating his alignment with conservative religious discourse.
