The Socialist Party of the Azores (PS/Açores) presented a proposal to support displaced students from the islands. Francisco César announced two main measures to help these students.
The first measure consists of a Regional Student Housing Supplement, which aims to financially support students who need housing outside their islands of origin to attend higher education.
The second measure proposes the possibility of expenses related to air travel for displaced students being deducted from IRS, allowing students and their families to obtain tax benefits on these expenses.
These proposals arise in the context of the need to support young Azoreans who have to relocate to other islands or to the mainland to pursue their studies, facing significant costs for housing and transportation.
