Rádio Campanário13 September 2026 at 12:25

Évora once again hosted the second edition of the Cartuxa Évora Ladies Open, a women's tennis tournament integrated into the ITF World Circuit, which takes place at the Tennis Club of Évora between September 7 and 13. With a prize of 40 thousand dollars, the competition belongs to the W50 category and brings together international players of high competitive level.

The President of the Municipality of Évora, Carlos Zorrinho, accompanied by councilor Jerónimo José, visited the tournament this Thursday, watching the doubles competition. The mayor was received by the president of the Tennis Club of Évora, Filipe Saúde, and by the director of the event.

During the visit, Carlos Zorrinho highlighted the relevance of the tournament for the city and for the entire region, emphasizing the regional, national and international visibility that the event achieves. The President of the Chamber also left a word of recognition for all those involved in the organization.

The finals are approaching: the doubles final is scheduled for Saturday afternoon and the singles final for Sunday morning, both at the Tennis Club of Évora, with free entry. With the support of the Municipality, the tournament is establishing itself in the city's sporting calendar, promoting women's tennis and reinforcing Évora's capacity to host international sporting events.

Why this matters

Readers from Évora and Alentejo benefit directly from this event by having access to professional international tennis in their city for free, contributing to local economic and tourism dynamization. The visit of the President of the Chamber underlines the municipal support for these events, reinforcing Évora as a destination capable of hosting sports competitions of world dimension.
