Santander announced a new strategy to strengthen its position in the pharmaceutical sector in Spain, where there are more than 22,000 establishments with an annual turnover of around 25 billion euros. The bank intends to become the reference bank for pharmacies, aiming to reach 10,000 customers by the end of the year, a significant increase from the current 7,600.
The bank's proposal covers everything from the acquisition or transfer of pharmacies to financing for investments in equipment, collections and payments management, and protection measures for pharmaceutical businesses. Santander offers personalized solutions such as loans for purchasing pharmacies and leasing for technology investments, including dispensing robots and refrigeration chambers.
The bank's offer includes business accounts with no fees, card machines with preferential commissions starting at 0.20%, commercial insurance, cybersecurity services, alarms and access to the Santander X platform for training and networking. The strategy also covers pharmacy employees, with fee-free accounts and financing on advantageous terms.
To consolidate its presence in the sector, Santander maintains agreements with three pharmacists' councils and with the cooperative Cofares, and continues to seek new partnerships. The bank will participate in the next National Congress of Pharmacists to reinforce its commitment to the segment.
