Aryna Sabalenka could not hide her frustration after being defeated by Elena Rybakina in the US Open final. The Belarusian lost 6/4, 5/7 and 6/2, this Saturday, in New York. The defeat prevented Sabalenka from winning the third consecutive title at Flushing Meadows and ended her 99-week reign at the top of the world ranking, a position that would now be occupied by Rybakina.
The reaction of the then world number 1 began during the match. After suffering a service break in the second set, Sabalenka struck a racket against the ground. After Rybakina's final ace, she threw the equipment again and, already seated while the opponent celebrated the title, she broke another racket.
The irritation continued off the court. While meeting with members of her team, the Belarusian asked, with a swear word, for a camera operator to move away. Later, she explained that she needed to vent before participating.
