The PSP alerted this Sunday to the increase in the arrival of immigrants in irregular situations in Lisbon and Porto, via trains and buses from other European countries. According to João Ribeiro, deputy national director of the PSP, these "secondary movements" in the Schengen area have been growing.
Many immigrants enter through Portugal only as a transit point or to try to jump to third countries, such as Ireland, using air connections. The security force will intensify inspections at these terminals.
